About Us
Larsen Golf is led by Erik Larsen, an experienced and talented golf course/landscape architect. Erik is a current member and past president (2010-11) of the prestigious American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) and has National Certification by the Council of Landscape Architectural Review Board (CLARB).
He has approximately 40 years of experience in golf course architecture, having personally designed approximately 100 golf courses in communities reaching 23 states and 24 countries. These include his most recent Larsen Golf projects, Atlantic Beach Country Club and St. Johns Golf Club, both in Northeast Florida, and earlier work with legends Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, where he was the lead designer on projects such as Dakota Dunes in South Dakota (Best New Golf Course Award, Golf Digest), Turtle Bay Hilton in Hawaii (Oahu), Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Lodge in Orlando (PGA Tour’s Arnold Palmer Invitational), Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links and the Silver Rock Resort in LaQuinta, Calif.
Larsen Golf’s latest courses serve as model projects for ultra-successful golf community revitalization. Atlantic Beach (Fla.) Country Club, was transformed from a financially endangered and environmentally polluted private course, previously named Selva Marina Country Club, via Larsen’s master plan. Atlantic Beach CC was featured during the PGA Tour’s Korn Ferry Tour Championship on the Golf Channel from 2016-18. The most recent course, set to debut in late 2022, is the St. Johns Golf Club, the St. Johns County-owned golf facility. The course will serve as a model of renovation and “traditional throwback” architecture features, county/municipality funding and green/open space utilization.
An Iowa native, Larsen began working on the golf course at his hometown Newton Country Club at age 12. He earned a Landscape Architecture/Horticulture degree from the highly touted program at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., where he designed the Lonnie Poole Golf Course under the Palmer Design umbrella in 2008. Larsen resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
